MTC partners annually with several community and social service organizations to provide access to professional live theatre productions, theatre training, and performance opportunities to economically disadvantaged and underserved communities. Partnerships include Adam J. Lewis Academy (funded in part by Kaplan Girls Music Fund), Norwalk Public Schools, Norwalk Housing Authority, and STAR of Norwalk. Previous partnerships have included Westport Public Schools, A Better Chance of Westport, and the Westport Center for Senior Activities. These programs provide access to arts education and performance that may otherwise be unavailable or financially inaccessible for underserved students and adults.
The MTC experience has been transformative for many of these participants, fostering creativity within a nurturing, non-competitive environment. Moreover, it has equipped them with essential life skills, including mutual respect, self-confidence, problem-solving, socialization, and collaboration—skills fundamental to success in both personal and professional arenas. These programs are free to participants and funded by MTC through corporate, state, and private support.
