Into the Woods JR. at MTC School - Fall 2023
Grades 2-8

SYNOPSIS:
Into the Woods JR. centers on a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse, and wind up changed forever.

STUDENT PRODUCTION PRE-REQUISITES:

• Students must be in at least second grade.

• Students have to be currently registered in at least one class to participate in a production.

• Students in Grades 2-5 must have completed at least two terms at MTC or receive director approval.

AUDITIONS:

Thursday, September 28th from 4:15pm-7:15pm at MTC

• Student's parents will sign them up for an audition slot prior to audition day. An email will be sent out when it’s time to schedule these.

• Each actor should prepare a 1 minute song to sing in front of the directors. They recommend singing a song from the show, but are happy to hear any chosen song. The following tracks they will have with them for kids to sing along to:

  • On the Steps of the Palace - begin track at 1:20 through the end start singing with "It's your first big decision..."

  • I Know Things Now - begin track at 1:10 through the end start singing with "And I know things now, many valuable things..."

  • Giants in the Sky - begin track at 1:45 through the end start singing with "the roof, the house and your mother at the door..."

• If they are singing a song that is not listed above, the actors must provide their own karaoke/instrumental track to sing along to for the audition. These can be found on Youtube or any music streaming service. The track can be played off a phone, tablet, bluetooth speaker, etc. that you provide.

• Each student will be given a scene to read from the script. The total time you will need to be available for your audition is at least 30 minutes.
